Assignment 5: Virtual essay

The photographer Senol Zorlu. He is Turkish, but he is living and working in Germany. He focus on people's expression, so he usually take photo which close of face photos. Because, it's easy to find personal emotion or expression.

They are egofoto photography by Senol Zorlu.

They are another photographers close of face photography.  Senol Zorlu and other photographers, they focus on people's emotion and feeling. Therefore, when they take picture, they focus on people's face, not background or their bodies. They want to show what people are thinking by photo, or how show people personality by photo. Consequently, The photographers will try to take picture naturally, and want to get plain pictures from people.  Senol Zorlu and other photographers show people's happiness, sadness and the troubles of life by picture.

However, Senol Zorlu's photos show more emotional and feeling. When I saw his photos, I can feel people's sadness or happiness from photos. When I find his pictures, I could know that his photos focus on people's eyes, especially children's eyes. They are so young, but their eyes appeal something. Some pictures make me really sad, some pictures make me really happy. The children's eyes never lie, so I can feel their thinking directly. He try to show their stories, culture and place by his photos.

Many photographers want to take portfolio like Senol Zorlu. However, good photographer needs that how to see people or nature heartfelt. when people take photo, they should have good skills or expensive camera, but, if they want to good result, they have to have how to find people's heart in their photo. I can feel many feeling in Senol Zorlu's portfolio.

Press Photography vs. Art Photography

1. The main differences and similarities between art and press photography
Art photographer and press photographer, they give express and some message by photo. They give a story and take a photo and make a record of the history. The photo tells how the society which it shows every state of fashion. The photo is mirror to reproduce the society. However, the press photography shows more reality than the art photography. If people want to be good art photographer, they need more creative thinking,but press photographer is not. The art photography do not need rule, it just need more creative photo than the press photography. The art photographers are just free to show what they are thinking and showing. Nevertheless, the press photographers send fact to readers. It is not able to deliver wrong facts, information or subjective view to readers, because they can make big problem in society.

2. Is it ethical and acceptable to alter art photographs? Why? Why not?

The art photography is just free to taking photos. It means that they just show creative and how people see nature or person more pretty. They do not give message to viewer.

Therefore, it is not ethical and acceptable to alter art photographs.

3. Is it ethical and acceptable to alter press photographs? Why? Why not? 

The press photographs make issue ethically, and they should not be acceptable. They show what happen in the world, and they give what this press photographs say by a photo. For example, war, sports such as the Olympic and environment. Therefore, when press photographers take photo, they should show honestly and should not give wrong message from photo.  

FOR PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT(1)

When I traveled in vancouver, I took sky and many ships on the ocean. I took these pictures using Lomo-camera. Actually, I wanted to get sky which more focus on cloud of picture,but I did not. Because, Lomo-camera is kind of film camera, so I did not check after take picture. However, it is my favorite picture which I took picture in Vancouver.

Therefore, I was editing colour and focal point on sky. I changed colour more dark front ship and backside building. Also, I made more clear sky and cloud. This picture is scenery picture, so audience can understand more easily than before picture, and they can get theme what I want to take. I just changed little bit colour and focal point, I did not edit and add something, so if audiences see after editing picture, they cannot coufuse or  misguide on my fixing picture  

Second picture is also scenery picture. I took this picture 7 years ago. When I walked on street at night, I wanted get a feeling of warms in my city. However, it was too difficult to send my message without editing, and I wonder that when audiences see this picture, they can figure out feeling of warms. 

I was editing which colour and giving more warmth on this picture. However, I focus on 

building and their light. I changed more smooth edge of picture, because of warmth. In addition, I edited which bright part make more light and dark part make more dark. However, I worried about audiences can feel warmth on my picture. The Audiences are able to be confuse what I want to show from this picture. They misunderstand that this picture just show night view or introduce some place from this picture. However, I hope to feel warmth. The people have lived too busy, and they are just walking street while do not look around their place, but people have to look their city or around place. Therefore, they can find many and different feeling of city.
